Treasure Hunt....When this happened?
In June 2011, the Supreme Court of india directed the authorities from the archaeology department and fire servicesto open the secret chambers of the padmaswamy temple trivandrum kerala india for inspection of the items kept inside. and the following things were found:
The temple has 6 vaults called as KALLAIRAI.
One of the vault was not yet opened.
These vaults contained:
- 1,000 kg of gold coins dating back to thousands of years
- One tonne of gold in the shape of rice trinkets,
- A sack full of diamonds,
- A rope made of gold
- Gold necklaces as long as nine feet.
- Sticks made of the yellow metal
- A sack full of gold ropes,
- Thousands of antique jewellery studded with diamnonds and emeralds, crowns
- Thousands of pieces of rare 'sarappoli' necklaces.
- Several 18th century Napoleonic era coins
- A Three-and-a-half feet tall gold idol of Mahavishnu studded with rubies and emeralds
- Ceremonial attire for adorning the deity in the form of 16-part gold anki weighing almost 30 kilograms
- Gold coconut shells, one studded with rubies and emeralds.
- Most important thing: One of Room(vault-B) popularly known as SIXTH DOOR is not yet opened.This chamber is sealed with an iron door with the image of a cobra on it. The royal family went to court to stop opening vault-b as this will be bad omen.Court also agreed not to open the Vault-B. An equal amount of gold is anticipated there.
How much it is worth?
It is worth close to 1.2 lakh crore or 1.2 trillion (US$18 billion)
Now this temple has become the richest temple in the world.
If the antique value is taken into account, these assets could be worth ten times the current market price.

Gold History of Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple(errors can be there)
8th Century: Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple was constructed.
1686 AD: The temple was fully destroyed in a major fire accident. It was reconstructed only in 1724.
1729 : Marthanda varma became the king of Trivancore. He renovated the temple. He conquered the other kingdoms around him and accumulated wealth. He hidden all the gold inside this padmanabha swamy temple.
1750: : Marthanda varma dedicated his entire wealth to the temple.
1991: Sree Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda varma assumed charge of the sri padmanabhaswamy..
September 2007 : Ananda Padmanbhan a lawer who got a hinch that there are lot of gold hidden in the temple went to court challenging the control of temple by varma family(royal family). Court also ruled that Royal family had no control over the temple and Govt Officials were appointed to take over the temple.
October 2008 : The govt appointed officials found doors for six vaults and they are able to enter into vault C&D. They found golden bow and arrow,golden umbrella and a golden throne embed with hundreds of gems.
June 2011: The royal family appealed to high court..The high court upheld the order. Varma went to Supreme court. And supreme court ordered to inspect the Vaults A&B
July 2011 : There was some difficulty in opening Vault B as it was jammed.Other vaults opened.
July 2012: inventorization and valuation of the items in vaults A,C, D E and F were complete,and vault B was yet to be opened.
